About This Event

Independent Schools Queensland is pleased to invite applications for the 2027 6R’s Leadership Program for Experienced Independent School Principals.

Developed by Dr Stephen Brown in consultation with current school principals, the program responds to the need for experienced principals to have structured opportunities to reflect, renew and learn with peers at a similar stage of leadership. It recognises the increasing complexity, volatility and uncertainty associated with contemporary school leadership and provides dedicated time for principals to strengthen their professional practice, wellbeing and long-term sustainability in the role.

Through the themes of Reflection and Renewal, Relatedness, Refinement, Refresh and Reach Out, participants will explore their leadership purpose, enhance key leadership capabilities, strengthen professional networks, develop sustainable approaches to wellbeing, and engage with current and future challenges facing independent schools. The program also provides opportunities for individual reflection, executive coaching and collaborative learning with experienced peers.

This program is open to Queensland and Northern Territory independent school principals with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in principalship.

Program dates:

  • 9–10 March 2027 - Reflection and Renewal Workshop

  • 18–19 May 2027 - Relatedness: Adaptive Thriving School Cultures

  • 20–21 July 2027 - Refresh and Refine Executive Leadership

  • 18 August 2027 - Refresh and Renew Workshop (group dinner the evening prior)

  • Individual self-reflection, webinar and executive coaching components are also included.

Location: ISQ Office, Level 7, 189 Grey Street, South Brisbane.

Cost: $6,985 per participant (excluding travel, accommodation and non-program meals). To secure a place, a $1,485 deposit is required, with the remaining balance payable in November 2026.
