Child Protection for Early Childhood Educators and Care Professionals 2025
ISQ's Child Protection for Early Childhood Educators and Care Professionals (2025) course, which was originally developed to meet annual child protection awareness requirements under section 84 of the Education and Care Services National Regulations, has now been superseded. This change follows the implementation of reforms outlined in the Decision Regulation Impact Statement (DRIS), developed in response to the Review of Child Safety Arrangements under the National Quality Framework (NQF).
The DRIS introduces mandatory child safety training requirements that go beyond awareness, ensuring nationally consistent, high-quality training for all individuals involved in education and care services, including those who do not work directly with children. This training will cover creating child-safe cultures, trauma-informed responses, identifying grooming behaviours, and distinguishing developmentally appropriate behaviours from harmful conduct.
The Queensland Department of Education will implement these reforms in multiple phases, aligning with national priorities and applying to Long Day Care, Kindergarten, and Outside School Hours Care services.
Further details regarding the nationally consistent child safety training requirements and the process for accessing these programs will be disseminated in early 2026.
We encourage you to review the DRIS if you have not already done so. For further questions, please contact kindy@isq.qld.edu.au.
